For this project I’m actually “building” the clone. I wont need to bend a receiver flat or do the basic weldments because I purchased an SW5 “welded” receiver. I will still need to weld the trunnion, cocking tube, front sight, SD hand guard and related parts. This is another 9mm project and will be an SBR with a suppressor. Initially I can build the gun as a pistol with no but stock and a fake suppressor. Once I get the SBR and Silencer tax stamp back from the ATF I’ll be able to put those parts on. I’m going to use the 3 position, S E F marked lower for this gun. The final coating will be the HK black duracoat.
I’ll outline the build as it comes together. Some parts will be modified “normal” MP5 parts and some will be made from scratch. Ill post pics and dimensions for any one that wants to build the same way. Some parts like the SD heat shroud/hand guard I will probably just make from scratch. I will modify an original 16″ mp5 barrel and fabricate the entire SD front section
( silencer, cocking tube, site and related parts ).
The goal is nothing fancy. Just an SEF, full stock MP5 SD clone.

Receiver Welding / SD Hand Guard and Heat Shield
Since I’m not building from a receiver flat I wont have as much building and welding to do on this gun. I will tig weld the trunnion, cocking tube, cocking tube extension, front sight and SD heat shroud. Ill need to fabricate the SD heat shroud to fit the hand grip and cut and weld the standard site and dust cap to the cocking tube.
Some if this is somewhat tedious welding and very cosmetic so I want these welds to come out nice!
